It couldn’t possibly be more of a disparate tale between Intel and AMD: Intel’s earnings last week found the company announcing that it faces a delay to its 7nm process node until 2023, sending the stock plummeting 16% in spite of its solid financials.

When it comes to memory records, we’re most used to seeing manufacturers or overclockers showing off their frequency peaks. However, another, perhaps a more practical reading are the read/write speed tests, of which Team Group has just set a new world record.

AMD has handily beaten its 2014 goal, known as “25×20,” to make its mobile CPUs 25 times more energy efficient by the year 2020. The company says that the AMD Ryzen 7 4800H beat the company’s baseline measurements by 31.7 times.

Intel recently hosted its Intel Partner Connect virtual event in Asia a couple of days ago. A roadmap from a presentation titled “Gaming and Creators: How to Win Enthusiasts” revealed that Intel might not launch a HEDT (high-end desktop) processor this year.

There’s a new DDR4 record in the books. As announced today by G.Skill and Asus, an overclocker known as Bianbao has set the new world record for fastest DDR4 RAM at DDR4-6666 (technically running at 6,665.4 MHz). To do so, the enthusiast used the new Intel Core i9-10900K processor, which has been overclocked to 7.7 GHz on all 10 CPU cores in another world record.

If you’re building a PC on a budget, it can be especially helpful to overclock your system in order to squeeze every bit of performance out of each dollar spent. In light of that, it’s probably nice to hear that the new budget-friendly AMD Ryzen 3 3100 CPU has been overclocked to 4.5 GHz on all four CPU cores at once.

Intel’s Comet Lake-S chips have yet to make their debut, but meanwhile, an engineering sample of a Rocket Lake CPU is already poking its head out of the water, thanks to a leak is spotted by hardware leaker @_Rogame.

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that DDR5 is nearing launch, but details have been surprisingly scarce. JEDEC, the organization behind memory standards, still hasn’t finalized the DDR5 specification, but that’s not to say that the memory makers don’t know what they’re doing, either.

Intel will announce the company’s highly-anticipated 10th Generation Comet Lake desktop processors on April 30. However, benchmark and review embargoes reportedly won’t lift until the second week of May. Approach the rumored dates with a bit of caution since we have no way to confirm them.
